| Overview
Enterprise
management is the management of the core business functions
provided by the IT Department for the benefit of the
business.
For any business, big or small, the IT department
exists to provide a service to the business. It must
be cost effective; it must be reliable and it must be
accountable. It must Monitor, Measure and Manage.

The tools that PTC develop and distribute help the
IT department to meet its main objectives. They help
to make the department more cost effective by providing
the ability to automate many of the repetitive manual
tasks. They make the department more reliable by reducing
the risk of error, and by ensuring that any problems
that do occur are resolved quickly and with the minimum
of disruption to other services. Finally, the tools
measure the level of service the department provides
against set targets, as well as producing a range of
management reports, thus the department becomes more
accountable.
PTC’s definition of Enterprise management
is the management of the core business functions provided
by the IT Department for the benefit of the business.
Our product set is collectively known as the "PTC Suite".
The essential function of any management system (be
it Network management, Systems management, Performance
management, Console management, Environment management
etc.), is that it actually manages the business process
that it is designed for. The management system will
monitor, control and report on the current business
situation. The great thing about management systems
is that they manage, allowing you to concentrate on
other things.
PTC Suite architecture is based around Microsoft’s
.NET development products, which provides the capability
to web-enable all of the critical information and opens
the way for Bluetooth and PDA support.
